How Does a Diapers Service Work?

Debbie Does Diapers essentially rents you the use of the diapers your baby needs, sized for the baby's age.  We come by once per week to pick up the used diapers and leave a fresh supply.  We also sell diaper covers for your use.  We launder our diapers to rigorous public health standards that you couldn't possibly match at home, with thirteen changes of water and high temp. that eliminates bacteria.  We ph test after every wash to make sure the ph is balanced to the baby's tender skin.  And every quarter we mail a diaper chosen at random to an independent lab for a complete sanitation and safety check to make absolutely sure that your baby's skin is treated to the very best that we can provide. You can put nothing cleaner or more sanitary on your baby's skin than our diapers!

Does it Save Money?

Study after study shows that babies using cloth diapers from birth will stop using any diapers one year sooner than with disposables. Just this alone could save you $1,000.00 or more.  With cloth diapers, in many cases, babies will start to potty train themselves.   Between 15 to 18 months of age babies learn that the reason they are wet is them, with the chemicals in a disposable diaper this natural learning process never takes place.  The average stay in cotton diapers is 20-26 months, while the average for disposables is 32-38 months.

How Much Does it Cost?

51-90 diaper rentals .................$16.99 per week

50 or less diaper rentals............$15.49 per week

There is a one time account set up fee of $20.00 that provides you with one hamper and supplies such as hamper liners and deo-discs for as long as you use the service.

Delivery charges are slightly higher outside loop 1604 and in some  Austin areas.

Why Cotton?

It's a matter of comfort and health.  The comfort is something you know from your own clothing.  It stems both from cotton's soft touch on sensitive skin & from it's breathability -- which ventilates the skin & helps evaporate the potentially irritating ammonia that starts to form as soon as a baby wets.  As for cotton's health properties for babies, it has thousands of years of history behind it.  Cotton is the fabric of choice for use directly on the skin.  Cotton is naturally absorbent.  It's what we use to dry our skin as adults but now for babies some are using paper, plastic and chemicals.  Why?

Isn't it Inconvenient?

Not if you use a diaper service and the modern, no-pins cotton diapering system with Velcro covers.  With a service, all you do with a used diaper is put it in the hamper provided for your use.  No rinsing or shaking is needed!  We will come by once a week and pick up the used diapers and leave a fresh supply of soft, sweet-smelling cotton comfort, and no one need be home for the delivery !  We also supply a freshener that goes in the hamper a prevents any odor problems period.

If it's so Great Why do Most People use Disposables?

The chemical companies that sell the disposable diapers have done a great job selling them to the public.  These chemical companies are selling the product world wide and have huge ad budgets.  Cloth diaper services, for the most part are small & local and cannot compete with these national ad campaign monies.  Also, for some parents, not changing a diaper is seen as an advantage.  With a cloth diaper, when it is used it needs to be changed.  With a disposable diaper you can let the baby sit in it's own waste for several uses before changing it.  For many parents this is seen as an advantage.

The question to ask your self is really quite simple.  If, for some reason, you had to wear a diaper would you want to wear cotton, just like you are wearing now, or would you want to wear paper saturated in chemicals?  And, when you soiled the diaper, would you want to be changed or left to sit in your own waste?  I have heard many of our customers say "If babies could remember, all parents would use cloth diapers."
